Where are we:
SmartCityHostels is in the Old Town right in Edinburgh's City Centre, close to travel, entertainment, shopping and tourist attractions . We are located one minute from the Royal Mile and only a few minutes walk from Waverley Station.
Do we need to bring bed linen?-
No way, we provide fresh and crisp free linen and towels
Are there private bathrooms? -
All our rooms have fantastic showers and toilets as a matter of course. We also make sure you have complimentary shampoo and soap as well. (and in our SmartCityGirls rooms, we have hairdryers, conditioner, handcream and extra towels)
What is included in the price for the night -
Our price includes your bed for the night, all bed linen and duvets, hot showers, use of our great hostel facilities.
What are check-in and check-out times? -
You can check in any time after 3.00pm, our reception is open 24/7. If you want to check in before this time you can store your bags and return when your room is ready. Check-out is 10.00am each morning.
Is there a minimum or maximum age restriction? -
We have no formal age requirements to stay at SmartCityHostels, although under 18s must be accompanied by responsible adult supervision
Is the hostel suitable for families? -
Most certainly is! We've got some great 4 bed family rooms with bunk beds (kids go on top bunks) and TVs and DVD players in the family rooms and a fantastic library of the latest DVDs
What types of beds do you have?
All the beds in SmartCityHostels are bigger than average single bunk beds with comfy mattresses, duvets and hypoallerginic pillows .
Do you provide car park facilities?
Afraid not, but there is lots of parking close by on Blackfriars Street or in the Radisson Hotel Car park.
Do you serve breakfast? -
Sure do, our SmartCityCafe is open all day every day from early until late. You can get our all day Scottish breakfast for a very fair price (its only £3.95). Breakfast is served from Monday - Friday 7.30 - 10.30 and on Saturdays and Sundays you can steal an extra half hour in bed as breakfast is served up to 12.00.
Do you have cooking facilities? -
Yup, we have a great Guest Kitchen with cooking facilities and a supply of pots and pans. Although at the great prices in our licensed SmartCityCafe why not take a break from cooking and try some of our great Gastro Pub food.
Can I smoke? - Afraid not, Scotland has a strict no smoking policy, so there is no smoking anywhere inside the hostel. We do however have an open air courtyard & roof terrace.
What is your security like?
We take your security and safety very seriously. All our rooms have individual lockers for your luggage and clothes, you can even keep your valuables - money belts, mobile phones, camera bags, laptops in the lockers, for a small fee, we can provide padlocks. Access to the rooms are controlled by state of the art electronic swipe cards and we have constant CCTV monitoring of entrances and common areas throughout the hostel.
Do you have a curfew -
Nope, you are welcome to come and go as you please any time of day or night, our reception is covered 24/7. All we ask is that if you do come back late, please be considerate and keep the noise down and try not to disturb the neighbours or your fellow hostel guests.
What type of dorms do you have -
We have a variety of rooms from 2 bedded private rooms up to 12 bed dorms. Our facilities are mixed, we can provide male or female rooms and we even have a floor dedicated to females - our SmartCityGirl rooms include some extra lotions and potions.
Do you have Internet facilities? -
Sure do, we have free internet access in our Web Café and also free Wifi access for those of you with your own laptops.
How do I get around Edinburgh? -
Edinburgh is a very compact city with most things within easy walking distance and we are minutes from most of the Edinburgh Attractions and Nightlife. There is also a great bus service with lots of different routes to get you around the city.
